Start as you mean to go on.

We've all inherited that classroom where the last teacher took the board rubber – that's showing my age – or the best whiteboard pens, or the best chair, or the best desk, or the thing that they really wanted in their new classroom that actually belongs to the school and not to them. This document that I've attached below was something that we used to ensure some equity, to ensure that everybody started the year with the same equipment for all the children and the same resources, because things do go missing, teachers do leave and take their best wall stapler that didn't actually belong to them, and the last thing you want is the new teacher – often an ECT – who ends up with a classroom half full of things that don't work. Yes, there are some budgetary implications, but we're talking about the basics in a classroom to make sure it works. So I'm happy to share this document that came from Ashdown Primary School in East Sussex that we used to use to make sure that equity happened. Good luck.
